Be of good cheer! No matter what you may be experiencing now, remember that God already has a plan in place (bewildering and sometimes confounding though it may be) – even if it’s nearly impossible to discern right now. It also may help to bear the following in mind:

  • God knows about our circumstances and is already working on them. The outcome may be a little different than what we had initially imagined or hoped, but nonetheless, we can trust that as we look to Him for guidance, the Lord is faithful, and He will never fail us. This is not to say that we will be exempt from disappointment, but even then, we must continue trusting God, even when we do not understand His ways.
  • In fact, God is the only One poised to do anything about our circumstances. Others may try to help us, but only Omniscience, Omnipotence, and Omnipresence Himself can intervene in the circumstances of our lives without the aid or guidance of anyone or anything else.
  • While we are waiting on His answers, the Lord often sends refreshing help – in the form(s) of people, new experiences, or other seemingly tandom things (such as, but not limited to timely messages at church, Bible verses that seem to leap off the page, books/blog posts/articles we happened to read at just the right moment, among others). This has definitely been my experience here on WordPress! I continue to be mightily blessed by the posts that I read here. I am also having this experience as I make my way through the Narnia series (I’m on the Voyage of the Dawn Treader now).

So take heart! Things can always change, as long as God is on tbe throne – and He still is! To borrow a quote from a wise friend of mine,

Be okay with the fact that things aren’t okay until God makes them okay.

In other words, I need to keep trusting God – and also remind myself that while His definition of “okay” often looks significantly different than mine, it’s still good because He is good. 🙂

  1. Amen and Amen!! We get ourselves into all sorts of trouble because we don’t recognise that Father God is SOVEREIGN. Over all situations, over all circumstances, over all. It is the proud “I” that says “Did God say?!!!” It is the humble heart that says “LORD, have your way!” Thank you for this reminder 🙂
