The Compassion of God

God is good! I can be hopeful today because we serve a God who is tender and compassionate toward us His children – loving, quick to forgive, generous, abounding in grace (unmerited favor), and extending mercy (withholding the judgment we do deserve).

God is not mean, hard-hearted, or uncaring – quite the opposite! He always does what is best, but since only He sees and knows all, sometimes His choices don’t always make sense to us.

Finally, the Lord’s compassion extends to our free will, too. Because He has given us the ability to choose – or reject – Him and His ways, we are also not exempt from the consequences of our choices. Certainly, the Lord forgives us whenever we ask Him, but that does not mean that we will be able to sidestep the consequences of the imprudent decisions that we have over time.

Thank goodness for God’s tender heart for everyone! Also, what an Example He is for us to emulate, no?

    1. Yes, my friend – He is our ultimate and best Example of how to truly embody the abundant life discussed in the Bible (which, as you know, has nothing to do with wealth, status, or other measures of success in the world’s eyes – quite the opposite!).

May the Lord continue to bless and prosper your way, Joseph! ✝️
