Great Things

The Lord has been good to me over the course of the past week – and actually for much longer than that, when you think about it. πŸ’› For this week’s post on gratitude, I wanted to take a moment and recount the specific instances of God’s faithfulness in my life over the past seven days:

  • My big brother’s birthday was on Monday! He just turned 51, although he doesn’t look a day over 30 (praise God for youthful genes in the family!). I am grateful that I enjoy a good relationship with my brother and with my family members in general, and that we are all in reasonably good health.
  • I also had a good interview for a potential job on Monday, as well. If it be God’s will, I pray that He opens the door, as I really feel quite excited about this opportunity.
  • I was able to return to church this past weekend, after not being able to go the previous weekend due to an ankle injury I have (in case you didn’t know, the month of May was a bit rough on the health front – there were several different health things that I dealt with, but God has graciously resolved all of them except the ankle – and that is getting better!).
  • I had the opportunity to catch up with another good friend I had not seen for awhile, and we were able to really encourage one another in the Lord and celebrate His blessings in our lives (even if some challenges remain). Good friends really are a gift! I am striving to be intentional about my relationships; and while we are all prone to busyness, our close friendships are just as important as the things we do each day – perhaps even moreso.
  • The weather continues to be absolutely stunning, and I am enjoying it. Lord willing, if my ankle gets better, I would love to make a trip to the beach with a friend of mine, but I’m not going to rush into things. Still, a beach day would be lovely! Carmel, here I come…? I’ve missed you so! πŸ˜€
  • Using my prayer app, I have been able to track how God is answering specific prayers for myself and others, and that encourages my heart. I’m still waiting for answers on many other matters, but it is heartening to see the Lord at work in my and in others’ lives, too.
  • My sleep continues to be good. This is a blessing! God has been showing me that I need to go “screen-free” by 11pm, and that means that I turn my phone off completely, and my laptop is switched off by then – if not earlier – too. I then intentionally leave both devices in another room, and do not switch them on again until the morning. This approach has been quite successful for me so far, and the Lord has been faithful to wake me up right on time each morning – no alarm needed.

So thanks for reading this, and let’s remember to celebrate the “great things” that God continues to do in our lives. Indeed, as it says in Psalm 126, “the Lord has done great things for us; are glad!” ⭐️

      1. Praise God for your prayers. They are worth all the riches in the world. You are always in my prayers dear Sister. I was smiling this morning as I was praying, talking to the LORD about how my prayer list has grown since the blog got started πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I am so selfish, because one of the first thoughts was, YA LORD, it gives me more time with You πŸ™‚ hahaha like I don’t have Him all to myself all the time anyway πŸ™‚

      2. You know what? I am experiencing the same thing. My prayer list is starting to grow as well. And I’m thankful for others who also pray for me. There is a joy found in praying for others, especially you, my friend!

And yes, we have a big God – big enough to be shared with everyone in the world. 😊

  2. What is this prayer app? I’ve been thinking about writing prayers down & keeping them in a box. Interested in your prayer app though!

    1. Hi Calista! The app is called Echo Prayer. I have an iPhone and simply went to the App Store and did a search for β€œprayer requests” or something like that, and I saw that this app had lots of positive reviews. I really like it! πŸ™‚

      1. Same here. I actually have three prayer journals that were given to me as gifts, but then I forget where I’ve put them sometimes, and then I find myself writing in them inconsistently.

I don’t do terribly well with with paper, but maybe that’s just me…?

      2. I can do paper – but a prayer journal just seems so labor intensive. I’m chuckling at myself right now because this is totally a first world problem to have. I have to daily remind myself to just pray. ☺️

    1. Yes, God is good, no? Thanks for the thoughtful words about my health issues. Something else showed up this week, but as with everything else, I know that God has a plan and it will all work itself out in time. Thanks so much for your prayers for my ankle.

How are things going with you? How is your studying coming along?

Aww, I’m sorry that something else has come up.

Things are better! I plan to post about it sometime – not sure when I'll get to it – but a lot of my "sinus pressure" is gone so I'm feeling better and going outside more. πŸ™‚ Which is one reason I keep getting behind in the blogging world.

Studying is going, but it's going slow. Thanks for asking! πŸ™‚

      2. Praise the Lord that things are better with your sinuses, and that you’re feeling better overall! πŸ˜€ How about your father?

Things are turning a corner for me as well. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you, my friend. On the whole, things are a lot better. I am also glad to hear that your sister seems to have turned a corner on the health front, and that you were able to see your brother as well – family so very important! πŸ’›
