Harvest of Blessing

I don’t know what you may be going through right now, but I hope that this verse from Galatians 6 offers some encouragement (it did for me, anyway). Let’s remember to keep doing good – planting seeds of blessings for others – and trust that God goes before us and plants seeds of His own (ones that are especially intended for us), too.

Hear me: I do not believe in the “prosperity gospel”. No, rather, what I mean is that the Lord has already gone ahead of us and planted some nourishing resources for us further up the path, but we must be walking on it (and keeping alert), expecting that His seeds – and ours – will eventually present a harvest one day.

As with all things in life, growth takes time, and the harvest principle is no exception. In fact, the Lord may walk so far ahead of us with His seeds that we have no idea where to find them, and we often grow weary along the way. Frequently, the path may be chock-full of twists and dark corners, and in our fear, we are tempted to turn around and return to the well-trodden path (now choked with weeds) from our past.

Instead, let’s keep doing what God has asked us to do, believing in faith that – “at just the right time, we will reap a harvest of blessing” if persevere through the tough seasons (also, let’s remember that God’s definition of “blessing” may look quite different from ours).

So press on, my friends, and keep your eye on the path for any signs of growth and change! Truly, the harvesr of the Lord is just around the corner…. 🌿

    1. Yes, you are right – and it exposes the enemy’s main tactic (to discourage us so that we give up and miss our harvest of blessing)!

I am really enjoying your writing – thanks for letting the Lord use you!

    1. Thank you, Lee! I simply (and prayerfully) reflect on what the Bible says, type these thoughts out, and press the “publish” button on WordPress. Jesus does the rest (He orchestrated the other things, to! 😀

I really appreciate your prayers. I received some encouraging feedback about my interview from this past Monday, so Lord willing – if it is part of His plan – I pray that this door will open.

Any updates on Melissa? And have you already gone back to your former job?

  1. Yes, God’s blessings may not look like what we thought the “blessing” should be but I don’t know how many times I have said or heard people say, You know I am glad it happened this way or that way because the way I wanted it wouldn’t have been as good, or worked out as well. I know this is those times you are talking about His blessings might not look like ours :):)

    1. You hit the nail on the head, Margaret. I was reflecting only today on something that I thought I knew was so right for me at the time, and now in hindsight, I can see that it would’ve been the very worst thing for me. At the time, I thought God was being mean by withholding this thing from me, but I now see that His firm “no” was the most merciful and compassionate thing that He ever could’ve done! ✝️

  2. God bless you, thank you dearly for this message. I needed to read this at this moment. The harvest is coming, but I’m fearful I can’t handle the task. Now I’m questioning who I am, when God says “You are ready”. I’m nervous. Jesus help me! 🙏🏼

    1. You are not alone, Tiffany! I’m nervous, too! Sometimes, we get comfortable with the dark twists and turns of the path we’re on – not because we enjoy the lonely journey, but rather because it’s what we know. It’s familiar.

Change is always challenging, but praise God that He is continues to change us a bit by bit, to best prepare us to receive the harvest that is already on the way, and not be fearful of it.

      Jesus help me, too! ✝️💛

  3. TJ, Thank you for those encouraging words today. The passage in Galatians 6:9 is one God has used to speak words of hope and encouragement to me many times, and I needed to hear it again today, so thank you!

    1. Praise the Lord, Sue! Isn’t it amazing how he uses His word to touch so many people and so many different ways? This verse strikes a deep chord of hope in my own heart as well, and I need to remind myself about the truth of who God is – not mery what I see or what I am feeling – consistently.

Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂 I look forward to reading your next post.
