Our Source

Be encouraged! We have but one Source in our lives, and He alone is the Lord. To borrow a line from Pastor Tony Evans, “God is your only Source. Everything else is a resource.”

So the good news is that He is all we’ll ever need, come what may. ⚓️ The tragic news? So many of us are focused on our resources (career, finances, educational attainment, social status, etc.) that we’ve completely taken our attention off of our Source. Yes, we often grow content with what we think we have, and can so easily slide into a false sense of security. The enemy is subtle!

Then something happens to our resources and life goes sideways on us (I’m speaking from personal experience), and because we’ve been so focused on our possessions, we go all atwitter when our resources are attacked in some unexpected way.

However, it is possible to secure a hard-fought and hard-won contentment with whatever portion the Lord has granted us for the day, and simply rest in heartfelt gratitude. To be honest, this is hard – no, impossible! – without the Holy Spirit’s help (and even with His helping Hand, life can still be very challenging).

However, let’s remember who our true and original Source is, and never forget the truth proclaimed in Psalm 121:2 – My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Bear in mind that God has created and owns all things; at most we are stewards of His bounty, but in reality, we own nothing.

Let that sink in for a moment: God owns it all. Consequently, this is why He is the best and only One who can help us when we feel stuck and don’t know what to do next. His solutions may be unconventional at times, but He will always answer – in time.

Dare to trust Him! 💡

    1. He sends us the reminder/manna (love that image!), yet often tests us in that very area all at the same time. Or at least that was my experience today!

I’m grateful for you, Kathy! Have a wonderful evening. ✝️
