Strength + Dignity

These verses from Proverbs 31 are two of my favorites in the entire Bible! They remind me to set high ideals and be aspirational – after all, with the Lord’s guidance, I too can embody the calm assurance of the Proverbs 31 woman.

In particular, the first line of the passage stands out to me: Strength and dignity are her clothing. It got me thinking: what is clothing me?

I believe that the dignity part is fairly well-articulated in my life, but the strength section is the area where more growth is needed for me.

And that is okay.

After all, I’m of the mind that the Proverbs 31 woman wasn’t always as solid as she appears to be now! Indeed, strength and dignity are attributes that are developed over time – often through trials – with thoughtfulness and effort.

But when you get there, you can be like the Proverbs 31 woman: smiling at the future, and resting in the confidence that I and my loved ones are prepared for whatever life throws our way.

Additionally, the Proverbs 31 woman has a focus on ministering to those around her through her teaching ability. So, she wisely focuses on helping others around her, and along the way, she blesses them deeply with her kindness.

It seems to me that when we accept and really understand all that we have in Christ, only then are we able to view this passage from Proverbs 31 with fresh eyes! 🤓
