God First

This quote by Oswald Chambers reminds me of why I am okay being single at this time in my life. While it certainly would be nice to be in a relationship, I simply am not interested in hitching my wagon to any man who does not make his relationship with the Lord the priority of his life – above career, money in the bank, or any other material inclination that one could have. Of course, these things are fine in and of themselves and certainly have their place, but never at the center of our lives! In my view, it really all comes down to having the right priorities.

This also means that I must continually strive to be a woman who keeps her priorities in the right place, where the Lord is at the center of all things. This is not always easy, though – after all, society frequently tells a woman that she is defined by her appearance, sexuality, marital status, and – increasingly – her career. Put another way, our culture tells us that those things should be at the center, but in and of themselves, they are shallow and do not satisfy.

So I think that Oswald Chambers got it right – truly, no love of the human heart is safe until it has fully entrusted itself to God FIRST. ♥️

  2. I was single until age 52. My husband was single until 53. We wish we’d met and married while we could still have children, but we’re overjoyed that God brought us together in this first marriage for both of us.
Being single is tough, make no bones about it. I think it’s tougher on females because of the expectations you mentioned. Also, single guys are invited & included into families much more so than women.

    1. You speak the truth, Kathy. 🎯

Also, I did not know that you and your husband met later in life! It sounds like you to truly treasure one another, and recognize God’s Hand in bringing you together. What a beautiful testimony!
