Christmas Blessings

I am thankful today because I recognize that my life is full of so many blessings! And the unexpected ones are often the sweetest. Allow me to explain:

I was able to make it to church for one of our Christmas services on Sunday, and this is one of my favorite services of the year! We sing the classic carols, our pastor shares the story about Jesus’s birth, and the service closes with a heart-stirring, congregation-wide rendition of “Silent Night” sung by candlelight. It is a special time, and I look forward to it each year.

It was especially special for me this year, because due to the asthma situation, I hadn’t been able to sing for quite some time. When I was able to make it to church – I watched the services online for three consecutive weekends in November, when my symptoms were at their worst – I found that trying to sing literally took my breath away, so I contented myself by listening to others and mouthing the words (whispering them, even), but I could not sing.

Until today!

I made it to church with comparatively mild asthma symptoms, and when “O Come All Ye Faithful” came on, I decided to go for it. I discovered that not only did I have the breath to sing, but that my voice sounded joyful and strong – my very own Christmas miracle! 😅

So like I said, my life is far from perfect, but it is a blessed life, and I am grateful for it.

Merry Christmas to you all (and I know that I’m a day early, but where’s the harm in saying it more than once?). 🌲

  1. So glad God gave you His personal Christmas blessing, and also gave you the eyes and heart to see and recognize and be grateful to Him. Isn’t He wonderful?!
I know what you mean about being able to sing. That’s one of my special worship ways: I love to bellow at the top of my lungs the old hymns to the Lord. I can’t carry all the notes like I used to, but it doesn’t matter, if there’s enough piano and organ and congregants to raise everything up in praise to our great God and King!
