What If…?

What a quote by Max Lucado! Truly, the Lord got my attention with this one. Let’s be clear — there is no guilt here, only gratitude. Or to paraphrase the Bible, “in all things give thanks.” I must remember to do this more (not in a legalistic way), rather than taking so many of my everyday blessings for granted.

God’s grace toward us is quite staggering when we consider how thoughtlessly we act towards Him. It’s not that we don’t love Him, but how often do we choose other people (or things) over Him? Our mouths say one thing, but our actions say something altogether different. Yes, this quote is convicting, but hopefully in the best way possible.

Thank You, Lord, for Your peace, presence, and power, as well as all that You have given me — today and always. May I never take Your faithfulness and lovingkindness toward me each for granted and every day! As the hymn says, “Morning by morning, new mercies I see. All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided — great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!” Thank You for being faithful even (especially?) when I am not. In Your name I pray, amen.

  1. YES! I like your discussion of his comment even better than his comment. 😊
I appreciate your gentle words to remind me of His grace, and to express more often my gratefulness to my blessed Lord.

  2. YEsssssssss Sister! If we can’t think of a dozen then we aren’t really trying hard enough. A friend said he was having a hard time of it and asked what I thought might help. I told him pretty much what this is saying but I said, when you wake up in the morning before you let that train of thought take over, just start thanking God. He said I don’t know for what. I started listing things that I could see that he should be thankful for. I said just listen, thank Him for the birds singing, the wind. He said he never thought of it that way. Hehehehe He even said he didn’t think of all those things as blessings any more 🙂

I also agree with Kathy Wire. I like your discussion better than his comment 🙂 I thank God for continuing to use you and bless you 🙂

    1. I really appreciated your comment, Margaret! The next time I hear the birds chirping (they usually start quite early), I will try to be thankful rather than frustrated by their early morning squawking. 🐦

I hope that the quote by Lucado did not cause any offense for you or Kathy — that was not my intention at all.

Please continue to feel better, and I will be praying for you! 🧡
