In Gratitude

So I was fortunate to travel out of the area for a couple of days and spend time with my eldest cousin (I last visited him in 2011). In many respects, this cousin feels like a brother to me, and we had a wonderful time together! What a joy it is to spend time with our loved ones and simply relax.

We visited a a local attraction (which was a lot of fun — it was off the beaten path quite a bit), and then had a late lunch at a tasty restaurant. Also, since we are both introverts at the core, we were able to enjoy naps in the late afternoon, and have dinner at home in the evening.

After sleeping in on Saturday — or at least I did! My cousin is an early riser — we enjoyed a hearty breakfast, and then I got back on the road before the heat of the day arrived. Another two-and-a-half hours later, I was back home — it was good ten degrees cooler there, too!

I am grateful for a safe trip to and from my cousin’s house (about 125 miles each way), for a low-key and fun visit with him, and that I left there feeling more peace and joy than when I arrived. I believe that my cousin felt much the same.

So I am grateful to my cousin and to the Lord who made him, fashioned him with character, integrity, and humor, and gave us both the opportunity to have a really good time together. Truly, family is a blessing! ✝️

  1. This sounded like a wonderful trip 🙂 I like staying home and catching up. Even though you were at your cousins home 🙂 It probably felt like home because he was there 🙂 Lots of people I know like to have visitors and go, go, go. I like to stay, relax, and enjoy the company.
