Hi friends! 🙋🏾‍♀️ It has been awhile, and oh what a journey it has been (and continues to be), but I will save those stories for another day. God is still on the throne and that is all that matters, no?

I came across a verse in Proverbs that gave me a sense of grounding in the truth and permanence of the Lord’s promises to us. In particular, one word stands out to me: surely.

It’s as if the Lord is saying, “Of course I have a plan that you cannot see, one that will work itself out for your good and My glory.” Naturally, His plan is unknowable and thar which we can see is often nothing short of bewildering. I reckon that is why we need faith!

But I digress. I don’t know what you have been going through, but try to remember that — surely

  • There is a future (your present circumstances are not all there is)
  • Your hope in the One who holds the past, present, and future is His hands is well-founded; what else can endow you with such assurance?
  • The Lord will sustain you and see you through, such that you will have sufficient hope and grace to see you through each day. On this you can rely.

Can these claims be true? Yes, indeed! Surely, in fact. ✝️

  1. I love your hope and confidence in the Lord! Well-placed.
At your post title, I thought of Psalm 23.6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
As I nodded in agreement with all you wrote (praise God!), I also considered how appropriate was Ps 23.6. Surely God is good to us! Surely He loves and cherishes us intimately! Surely our future is with God, Himself.

    1. Ah, yes, you are right on time with your reference to Psalm 23:6! I remember as a little girl we would sing the song at school (I attended a Christian elementary school) that had the words, “Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…” but as kids we thought the song said “Shirley Goodness and Mercy shall follow me…” and we couldn’t quite figure out who Shirley Goodness and Mercy were . 😀
